The Greater Durham Special Olympics community is excited that twelve of our athletes have qualified to compete at the on going March 1 - 5 Special Olympics Canada 2016 National Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.  Some of our athletes are competing at this level for the first time and all will have the opportunity to advance to the 2017 world winter games in Austria.

We are very proud of the following athletes who have been training hard in their respective sports: Andrew Boyd (Nordic Skiing); Ashley Boyd & Kathy Dunlop (Snowshoeing); Theresa Rose Camposeo & Alicia Smith (Figure Skating); William LeBlanc, Kyle Mitchell, Catherine Partlow, Jessica Romaniuk & Erin Rynberk (Speed Skating) and Terry Savage & John Antoniou (Floor Hockey).

These athletes will be supported at the games by GDSO volunteer coaches Duncan LeBlanc & Karen Moloney (Speed Skating) and Doug Boyd (Nordic Skiing).
