Greater Durham Athletes on Team Ontario!

The ‘Special Olympics Ontario - Greater Durham Community Council’, sports club/program coaches, parents and supporters are proud to announce that the following 24 Greater Durham athletes have been named to the Team Ontario Training Squad for the 2014 Special Olympics National Summer Games.

Our athletes qualified for Nationals whilst competing in the Provincial Spring Games in Kingston and the Provincial Summer Games in York Region. The National Games will be held in Vancouver, BC from July 8th- 13th, 2014 and will host over 1,700 athletes, coaches and mission staff from across the country. It is a qualifying event for the 2015 World Summer Games which will be held in Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Team Ontario is comprised of 353 athletes, 86 coaches, 14 Mission Staff and three Team Managers. Thanks to Ryan Sheridan, who is doing the pre-games ‘Provincial Team Liaison’ work for the Greater Durham and York team members.
