Programs for Younger Athletes

Greater Durham Special Olympics offers both Special Olympics Canada programs designed to help younger children with an intellectual disability develop basic motor skills and sport skills through fun and positive movement experiences: Active Start (for ages 2-6) and FUNdamentals (ages 7-12). These programs are offered as three 12-week sessions from September to May and run back to back at the same location weekly.

Enrollment for Active Start or FUNdamentals is available online for all 3 sessions this year beginning Sept 1 (programs start after that date, depending on the program). Note that any enrollment after the end of the season (i.e. after June until Aug 31) is not for the next season - you must wait until Sept 1 to enroll online for the next season.

Due to the impact of the suspension of programs by Special Olympics Ontario due to COVID-19 to Session 3, GDSO has decided to cancel it.

Active Start / FUNdamentals has ended for the 2019/202 season.
